On the road to Pittsburgh, Tomoko got an surprise call from Brian and Yuko Wright suggesting we get together for dinner after we had settled in at our hotel. Our pianist friend Richard Dowling in New York had alerted them that a “special ragtime couple” would be in their neighborhood. We had bumped into Brian and Yuko at ragtime festivals, but had never made their acquaintance. We had a delightful time sharing all the things, mostly music, we have in common and Tomoko and Yuko worked out the details of their strange first meeting at the West Coast Ragtime Festival a few years ago.
